Older records, trade permits, certificates, and enforcement cases may be held in separate systems. Compare the displayed status with the agency definition, review inspection or final documents when available, and ask the records office what the online system omits before making a time-sensitive decision. If the property crosses an annexation boundary or uses a mailing city different from its permitting jurisdiction, verify the authority before assuming the result is complete. Permit records are only one part of due diligence and do not by themselves prove legal compliance, workmanship, safety, ownership, or that the building still matches the approved plans.
